Miller EMS began implementing our own
billing department in May of 2009 and
completely transferred all patient
accounts to our in-house billing
specialists in July 2009. The decision to
bring billing in house came after
discovering that the billing company we
utilized was repeatedly making dramatic
errors in billing. It was estimated that
Miller EMS lost over $20,000.00 in
revenue secondary to the mistakes that
were made. It was also discovered that
our customer, the patient, was being
treated less than superb when inquiring
with the billing company about their
accounts. These were two issues we at
Miller EMS were not going to stand for.
Since the change, Miller EMS collections
have increased dramatically. The change
has enabled us to provide a customer
friendly billing service rather than the
cookie cutter, non-personal third party
billing company we had used in the past.
The decision to change has enabled
MEMS to provide better emergency
medical services and to provide a more
personal, caring attitude towards our
patients in regards to billing.
