Frequently Asked Questions

Does Miller EMS respond to 911 Calls?
Miller EMS is the primary 911 ambulance provider for the Town of Wakita and the immediate
area around Wakita.

Can Miller EMS assist other ambulance services?
Yes. Via request from another service Miller EMS may respond emergency or non-emergency
based
on the severity of the call. This may be to other parts of Grant County, or areas outside of
Grant County.

Is Miller EMS and Medford EMS the same service?
No. The two services are completely separate. Miller EMS is privately owned and operated by
Miller E.M.S., L.L.C. No tax dollars are utilized to maintain the service. Medford Ambulance is
a municipal operated ambulance service operated by the City of Medford.

Does Miller EMS always respond with a paramedic?
As with any emergency service, Miller EMS must carefully manage it's resources. Our first out
unit is staffed daily to the paramedic level. When our first unit is dispatched to a call, we
strive to "staff up" the second ambulance to cover until the first ambulance returns. Most
days this is possible and when staffed the second out unit is at least at an advanced level
and usually the paramedic level. If a call is received for a "scheduled" transfer Miller EMS will
assign a special crew to handle this type of call in an effort to leave first out resources in
service. These scheduled transfers are staffed according to the level of care needed.

How many ambulances does Miller EMS have?
Miller EMS has six ambulance units all stocked and capable of providing care at the critical
care level. We also have a four wheel drive supervisor/quick response unit which is stocked
to the paramedic level. In addition to the ambulances and the supervisor unit, we also have
an ATV unit for off road use like during special events or S.A.R. operations.

What if I call Miller EMS for an ambulance response and all of their
ambulances are already on a call?
Miller EMS strives to handle every call that we get, however as with all emergency services
resources can become taxed requiring us to pass some calls to other ambulance services. If
you are requesting a pre-hospital emergency response, and Miller EMS is unavailable, we will
take your call information and pass it to the next available ambulance service. It will be
seamless for you. If you are requesting an inter-facility transfer, we will either schedule your
transfer, or if it is a priority that needs to go "now" we will gladly assist you in finding
another transfer service capable of handling your patient.
