On November 4th Miller EMS became the Town of Wakita's primary ambulance provider.
What does this mean?
It means that when you call for an ambulance, Miller EMS will be the first ambulance service to receive
the call. Miller EMS has also entered a memorandum of understanding with the Wakita fire department
to respond anywhere within the Wakita fire district as requested.
How will this effect you?
Improved levels of care, improved response times and improved interaction with the people in the
Wakita area. Miller EMS operates a full time staffed ambulance service. When we receive a 911 call,
our units are on the road and responding within 2 minutes. Most of the time Miller EMS responds with
paramedics, the highest level of care available on an ambulance. Overall, it is an improvement to the
EMS system in the Wakita area.
Does the way I call for an ambulance change?
No. We have added a method or two but have not removed any of the "old" methods of requesting an
ambulance. You may call 911, you may call the local Wakita ambulance number 594-2280 or you may
call Miller EMS direct at (580) 741-1233.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to call us on our
non-emergency line at (580) 395-2426.
